Who We Are

BLIA-YAD is the abbreviated form of the Buddha's Light International Association—Young Adult Division, and we are part of a greater global Buddhist organization called Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA). BLIA-YAD Toronto group was officially founded in 2001, and currently there are over 50 different groups worldwide.

BLIA-YAD is a group of youths who are not necessarily Buddhists, but have an interest in learning more about Buddhism and life. Through organizing various activities and events, BLIA-YAD is actively involved in both promoting the teachings of Buddha and the fellowship among young people of today.

Our YAD group is divided into two groups:

YAD in Society (recent graduates and working individuals)
YAD in Schooling (high school and post-secondary students)

The objectives of the BLIA-YAD:

To establish our direction through Humanistic Buddhism
To foster leadership skills by forming youth groups
To broaden our life experience through activities
To deepen our faith in Buddhism through education
To enrich our values by contributing to society

Who Can Join BLIA-YAD?

Youth aged 14-35 can join one of our two YAD groups. If you are looking to learn about Buddhism, find volunteering opportunities, gain experience in event organization and leadership, and get to know positive people – then YAD is the group you're looking for!
