Bake sale fundraising for BLIA YAD conference

To show appreciation for the sponsorship from Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, for their participation in the "2018 BLIA YAD Conference" in Taiwan, the Toronto YAD held a bake sale on June 24th to raise funds.

The YAD members formed three groups for this bake sale to better use the limited manpower and time. Joyce's group was responsible for making the litchi jellies; Stacey's group was responsible for assembling the three-layered jellies; and Michelle's group was responsible for baking the dark chocolate pretzels. YAD members sough guidance from the elder Advisor of Mississauga subchapter, Florence Koo, who works at a five-star hotel on baking dark chocolate pretzels.

In order to keep the baked goods fresh, the baking time was reduced to three days before the fundraising. It was not an easy task and required coordination and patience. However, everyone understood the effort like plowing and wedding for good harvest.

Toronto BLIA YAD president, Joanna Chu thanked BLIA members and YAD members' parents for their love and support. They donated gifts, backpacks, tablewares, toys, stationery and other products for sale and at the same time they purchased many goods. Many BLIA members donated the spare change to the YAD members to further support the event and encourage the YAD members in their endeavours.
