Toronto BLIA YAD members learn about Buddhism and Music

Toronto BLIA YAD held a Buddhism & Music Workshop at FGS Temple of Toronto on Saturday, September 29. Vancouver BLIA YAD’s Pegasus Executive, Julia was invited as the guest speaker for the seminar. The seminar was also joined by Jennifer Lee, the FGS Temple of Toronto choir teacher.

Julia’s presentation demonstrated ways in which FGS combines music and performing arts with Buddhism. The presentation included an overview of songs and music videos produced by FGS, the procedure to music production, as well as an introduction to the Taipei BLIA Youth Music Group (台北佛光青年歌詠隊) and their events and activities. Julia mentioned how youths from many parts of the world were able to express their artistic and musical talents through platforms provided by FGS. She also showed Toronto YAD Members the “Kuai Le Song” (快樂Song) CD, which included songs with lyrics written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Before the end of the presentation, Julia kindly informed the group of an upcoming singing event called “歌詠不一樣KTV大挑戰”, which will take place on October 14, 2018 at FGS Temple in Taipei.

A Q&A corner was held after the presentation where Toronto YAD members were able to ask Julia questions about producing music and singing. Towards the end of the seminar, Julia handed out lyrics to the song “Harmonize” to Toronto YAD Members. Under the guidance of Julia and Ms. Jennifer Lee, Toronto YAD members practiced singing the song together as a group.
